Who is Tanya Simpson?
"You should know the score by now, you're a native New Yorker!"
Those were the lyrics of a popular old school song from the 70's blaring
from
the radio she listened to while growing up in lower Manhattan and the
South Bronx.
Tanya Simpson's career in radio broadcasting began in 1984 as a student
of Theatre Arts and Communications at New York City's Hunter College,
where she gained her initial hands-on training as producer and host
of a show at her
college radio station. Within 2 years, Tanya's versatile on-air delivery
and bubbly personality caught the attention of a top radio programmer
who hired her for middays in Newark, NJ.
By 1988, a rare opportunity brought her closer to home in NYC to work
as a record company representative and programming assistant. In 1993,
she would spend the next five years as the midday host at Soft Rock
WMGQ in New Brunswick, NJ.
Tanya has hosted numerous events, from fashion shows to block parties,
and even lent her voice to various organizations, including including
AT&T,
Island/Def Soul Records, Elektra Records and J Records.
Tanya is well-known all over the world for her emotional honesty, down-to-earth
personality and her ability to relate to her listeners on any level. "We have all experienced similar situations in our lives. It's
a great thing when we can all learn from these experiences and grow
together as a people."
From 1998 to 2001, Tanya enjoyed a very successful voiceover career
by day,
while entertaining thousands of third shift workers on overnights in
NYC at KISS FM.
Now you can catch Tanya Simpson on 98.7 KISS FM
