Darryl
James
His initials stand for more than just his name, the D.J.
stands for Disc Jockey. Born and raised in the Bronx, Darryl got his start
spinning records at his uncle's nightclub at the impressionable age of
sixteen. With a fire in his belly for music, Darryl moved on to improve
his deejay skills at nightclubs such as The Red Parrot, and the Silvershadow.
Darryl has always possessed a power to move a crowd, and his skills brought
him the position as the main house DJ at the world famous Bentley's Nightclub.
His work at Bentleys got him recognized by KISS FM, and the station realized
they needed his flava at the station in 1991. Darryl started out doing
mix shows for KISS, and he is currently displaying his talent on the Lunchtime
Mix on KISS.
Darryl James the DJ has even outdone himself as just a mere DJ. He joined
with world renowned Disc Jockey Todd Terry, and made several hit records
on Todd's dance label Freeze Records. Darryl has produced and remixed
several artists songs such as Janet Jackson's "If" and "Because
of Love," Brittany Spears' "Baby", Jody Watley's 'When
a Man Loves A Woman," Tony Toni Tone's "Ex-girlfriend,"
and Robin S. to name a few.
Darryl has been known for his beats that move through your whole body
forcing you to wiggle your thighs, your feet to tap, your fingers to snap,
and your head to bounce. It is this amazing ability to pick out and create
a beat that has kept his listeners screaming for more.
You can now be mesmerized by Darryl's talent on The After Party, Saturday Mornings from 2A-6A
