Push Vs Precious

Hey Lovelies...miss me?!
Yes, it has been awhile but we're back together so let's get to it! Since none of us have been living under a rock, I'm sure you know the movie "Precious" is  out. "Precious" is based on the novel "Push" by Sapphire which came out more than 10 years ago (which is when I read it but I'm not telling my age! LOL!). You never know what you're egoing to get when a book is made into a movie or any type of visual form, but having had the chance to see a preview of "Precious," I'm more than ready to give you, my lovelies, the best comparative review possible...without giving away the story.

"Push" is actually a short read, especially if you're used to reading very long novels. But from the very first page, you know you're in for something very different based on the way Claireece ...

Wildflower's Happy Halloween Tips--Day & Night

Posted 10/27/2009 8:30:00 PM
Hey Ya'll,

One of my personal favorite holidays is coming up--Halloween!  Now I know some of you guys don't believe in celebrating Halloween--I understand and that's all good.  But for those of you that do...I have some tips to make it more fun.

1.  For a day at the job (first make sure your boss is cool) try walking in with something very simple to celebrate the day and greet your customers or clients.  Put a weird colored streak your hair, get some cat ears and a tail, or a witch hat or even get some fangs and paint a little drop of blood by your mouth in "True Blood" fashion.  Simple--but festive.

2. For a day with the kids..after trick or treating, bake some goodies together and rent or download some movies that the kids AND the adults in the house can enjoy---like my personal favorites "Monster House"; "Beetlejuice"; "Hocus Pocus"; "Ghostbusters" and of course--"The ...

“Another’s Man Poison”

George O Broome’s, “Another Man’s Poison” is a hilarious play, which exposes the difficulties one faces along with their loved ones when confronted with stardom & fame. Frankie Masters a Vietnam vet, then struggling comedian, turns to show biz after being given the opportunity to have his own network television show. While on the rode to success, Frankie’s commitment to his family is sacrificed. Not only does the play address the importance of family it also touches on women's liberation, racism, war & gender identity.

The cast features Leland Gantt (Ma Rainey's Black Bottom) as Frankie Masters, Penelope Lowder as Pauline Phillips, James Edward Shippy (Behind Closed Doors, The Meeting) as Alan Phillips, Steve Greenstein ("Confessions of a Shopaholic") as Mel Stein, Toni Stanton as Sarah and Dennis Hearn ("Boardwalk Empire") as Dick.

Another Man’s Poison is the archetypical Hollywood story of achieving success ...

15th Annual Essence Music Festival

I know it’s almost August but I just had to give you a recap of my moments at the 2009 Essence Music Festival presented by Coca-Cola, who had over 400,000 people attend their 15th Annual Celebration of Music, Arts, and Empowerment over from the 3rd to the 5th of July. This ultimate party weekend was highlighted by performances from a variety of greats in the music world and includes three days of seminars featuring some of the nation's most influential speakers, entertainers, artists, authors and leaders. OMG, there is so much to tell but I’m gonna keep it brief or at least try LOL.

Let me start by saying New Orleans and its musical ambience is just the setting for such a rich gathering. The food and people opened their city to me and a host of others and made us feel like we where at home while getting our ...
