98.7 KISS FM AND THE D.L. HUGHLEY MORNING SHOW PRESENTS THE 2009 KISS CARES SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS


98.7 KISS FM, New York’s Best Variety of Old School and Today’s R&B and The D.L. Hughley Morning Show, presented the first ever Kiss Cares Scholarships to three goal-driven and deserving students on Thursday, August 13, 2009. D.L Hughley, Steve Wilson, Jacque Reid, Bob Slade and Raqiyah Mays honored these students for their academic achievements at Planet Hollywood in Times Square, New York.

The KISS Cares Scholarship program sets out to award students on all academic levels and provides each recipient with $1,000 toward their high school, or college tuition.

Marion Bell of Newark, New Jersey was presented with the 2009 Higher Hope Scholarship. Bell, who will be attending Saint Peters Preparatory High School, enjoys tutoring kindergarten through second grade during his spare time.

Wahkeeyah Johnson, the 2009 Merit Scholar, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, will be entering her freshman year of college at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland and will be majoring in communications and public relations.

The 2009 Legacy Scholarship recipient, Crystal Wright is from Far Rockaway, New York and is entering her second year of graduate school at The University of Maryland University College.

“KISS FM is helping make a positive change in today’s society through community service and involvement. I am so grateful and proud to be a recipient of the KISS Cares Scholarship,” said Wahkeeyah Johnson.
